Math Academic Intervention Services (AIS)

School districts are required to provide academic intervention services to students who score below the state designated performance level on grades 3 and 4 ELA and Math State Assessments. These services are also required when students are at risk of not achieving the State learning standards.

Criteria used for AIS placement in the elementary school may also include:

• teacher recommendation

• review of class progress

• benchmark or diagnostic testing results

AIS recommendation forms are submitted by teachers in June for the following school year.  Criteria for AIS placement is also reviewed at child study team meetings throughout the school year.

AIS Math services are most often provided in designated classrooms during the Math lesson. Support is given to assist students with new concepts, as well as to review skills.
