Application Procedure
Your
FIRST APPLICATION may take several weeks for the
Counseling Center to process. Please give us the lead time
needed so that we may do a thorough job!
ACTIVITY SHEETS/RESUMES
should be completed as soon as possible and brought to the
Counseling Center.
ALL APPLICATIONS - As you
bring in applications to the Counseling Center, you MUST log in
the school's name and deadline with the counseling secretary.
All schools require a high school transcript and/or secondary
school report, which must be sent directly from the Counseling
Center. Your applications must be complete and include an
addressed envelope, stamps and check made payable to the school
you are applying to, for the fee they indicate.
ONLINE APPLICATIONS
If you apply online, you are required to log in the college's
name with the counseling secretary. This is to ensure that your
mid-year and final grades will be sent to the colleges where you
have applied.
NYS SUNY APPLICATIONS
Applications are available in the Counseling Center, or you can
apply online. Return the completed application, envelope with
stamps, and check for the application fee to the Counseling
Center. We will send it from here along with your transcript and
resume.
ALL OTHER COLLEGES
Send, call, or download an application (some are available here
in the Counseling Center). Follow the application instructions.
Each college may vary.
1. If your part is attached to the secondary school report,
complete your part, sign it, and bring all of it to the
Counseling Center with an addressed, stamped envelope, and check
for the application fee, made payable to the school with your
Social Security # on it. We will send it from here with an
official transcript and resume.
2. If your part is separate, complete it and mail it yourself
along with a check for the fee. Bring the secondary school
report to the Counseling Center along with a stamped, addressed
envelope. We will send it from here with an official transcript
and resume.
COMMON APPLICATION
Applications are available in the Counseling Center. Follow the
directions below.
1. Fill out the application according to the instructions. Fill
out the top portion of the SCHOOL
REPORT and bring it to the Counseling Center along
with stamped, addressed envelopes for each completed
application.
2. You should photo copy the TEACHER
EVALUATION sheet and give it to the teachers you are
requesting an evaluation from. Please provide them with a
stamped, addressed envelope.
3. The original COMMON APPLICATION
(PERSONAL DATA) form should be photo copied for each
school you are applying to and mailed, along with your check, by
YOU! Retain the original completed
COMMON APPLICATION in the event you decide to send
more out at a later date.
TRANSCRIPTS
If you are ever in need of a transcript (i.e. to bring to a
college interview or for a scholarship that does not require
being filled out by your counselor), fill out the transcript
request form, available from the counseling secretary.
TWO DAY NOTICE PLEASE!
TEACHER RECOMMENDATIONS
If your college application requires a teacher recommendation(s),
you should ask the teachers well ahead of the deadline if they
would be willing to write a recommendation for you. Please
provide them with a stamped, addressed envelope for each college
that requires the recommendation, including forms if they are
provided by the college. Please be sure to fill out your section
on the recommendation forms. You may wish to ask your teacher to
provide a copy of the recommendation to the counseling center
for your file.
SAT I and ACT SCORES
It is your responsibility to have your standardized test scores
sent from the SAT I, SAT II, or ACT companies. You may release
scores via, phone, mail (forms are available in the Counseling
Canter) or when you register for the tests. The counseling
center will include them on your transcript when we receive your
scores.
