The Fonda-Fultonville Cross
Country Boys Team was honored by State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R,C
- Schenectady) and Assemblyman Paul Tonko (D-Amsterdam) in Albany
on Feb. 6.
"Assemblyman Tonko and I were truly pleased to honor another State
championship team from Montgomery County," Senator Farley said,
referring to the Amsterdam Rugged Rams high school football Class
A champions, who were also recently honored by the Senate and
Assembly.
The Fonda-Fultonville high school team won the Class C New York
State Cross Country Championship on Nov. 12. The team brought in a
combined score of 55 points, beating the runner-up school
Canastota by 12 points.
Senator Farley and Assemblyman Tonko co-sponsored a New York State
resolution honoring the cross country team. Members of the
championship team are Jeffrey Dufel, Edward "E.J." Givis, Jr.,
John Moore, Blake Dwyer, Joseph Geniti, Brian Palumbo and Jeremy
McAllister.
"These are remarkable individuals that truly understand the word
'team.' They worked together as a unit and together they became
champions," Farley said.
