Voyager Spelling
In the First Grade Voyager program, the children have spelling three times / week. The first few words are words that cover the skills (vowels, letter combinations, VCe rule) that we have been working on in class. The last few words are sight word vocabulary. These are words that are listed in the "SUNSHINE" box on the words skills page. The children need to practice reading AND spelling these words daily.
The Voyager program does not give a spelling list in first grade. However, due to the frustration and anxiety that has been seen... I have decided to set up a spelling page with the words for the week. Spelling tests usually are given in Lessons 2,4,5 and Lessons 7,9,10. (Check our online HOMEWORK page or your child's agenda to to make certain of the lesson.) In a typical week the spelling tests would make be on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
